"The best way to predict your future is to create it."

-Charles Ketterer

This quote means that the future lies on what you do today. Be successful now and grow old successful. Set goals that you want to achieve and accomplish them so you can create what you said in the past. Create your own future nobody tells you what you can be and what you can't so might as well go out there and give it the best you got!

He saw a soldier who reminded him of his father who was once was a soldier because he died when Myles was only  5 months. He gave him the 20$ and a little note saying thank you for his service and also for reminding him of his dad. Now the soldier Lt. Davis reads that note everyday.
